Contractor rankings
Who’s pulling the most commercial permits, county by county.
Rankings built from public permit records: the commercial, HVAC-relevant permits we track, counted per contractor. We only publish a county’s ranking when its permit records name the contractor cleanly; every number is traceable to a public filing.
Cook County, IL
Busiest commercial contractors, from City of Chicago building-permit records (Chicago Data Portal)
New York City, NY
Busiest commercial contractors, from NYC Department of Buildings DOB NOW permit issuances (NYC Open Data)
Why these counties, and why only the top three?
Each county shows its top three in the open so you can see what the data looks like. The full ranking belongs to the county’s exclusive holder. We only publish a ranking where the public record carries a clean contractor name on each permit, so nobody gets ranked on guesswork.
